Tension had been rising in Boston since the British soldiers first arrived in 1768.
Fist fights between soldiers and colonies were common sight in the street
On March 5,1770 the city was ready to explode, when angry colonist surrounded Hugh White and his men, the soldiers panicked. They fired into the crowd killing 5 people.This event is the Boston Massacre.
One of the victims was Crispus Attucks he was born into slavery and escaped it at the age of 27, he began working as a sailor.
On the night of the shooting he led a group of sailers to the scene of the protest.
The British soldiers were put on trial murder in Boston and were defended in court. The court ruled that the soldiers weren't guilty.
