Storyboard Text

  • Hi Mr. Hoffman!
  • Hello Students! Welcome to today's assembly. We have a very special guest here to not only share her story, but also share the story of those who no longer can.
  • Hi Mr. Hoffman!
  • Well hello everyone! It is so nice to meet you all. My name is Amalia Fleming and I am a physician, bacteriologist, and Greek Resistance activist. Today i'm going to take you on a journey through time and share not only my story as Mr. Hoffman said, but also my husbands story, Alexander Fleming, who passed away.
  • Amalia narrating: I want you to envision me years ago. I was working in Sir Flemings laboratory working on bacterial antibiotic resistance and writing papers on the sensitivities of penicillin resistant bacteria
  • Amalia narrating: But even years before this in 1928, Alexander Fleming held back on throwing away some culture of Staphylooccus aureus bacteria when he noticed that some of his sample had died. This one action led to discovery of the world reowned antibiotics...Penicillin.
  • Amalia narrating: His discovery of penicillin would save the lives of millions of people and animals.
  • Thank you all so much for listening.
