Hey and im here to tell you about stress. The first kind of stress is Tension. Tension during an earthquake is when the plates full each other apart until the tension is so high that they snap apart.
The second type of stress is Compression, Compression is when the ground pushes together. when it pushes together one of the pieces of ground goes under the other piece. Or the other Piece can go up and create a mountain.
The third type of stress is Shearing, shearing is when the two pieces of the ground slide against each other or rub against each other.
Now im going to talk about the different kinds of faults! The first kind of fault is Strike fault, strike faults slide or rub against each other. Why one of these faults are created by stress built up over time.
The second fault is a normal fault and a normal fault is when one of the pieces of the ground is above the other piece. The second piece is the one that is below the other.
The final fault is Reverse fault and the reverse fault is the opposite of a normal fault when the part that is supposed to be down its now up and the part that is up it is down.
