Storyboard Text

  • This is the town of Gonzales
  • We are off to get our cannon back!
  • NO!
  • The Battle of Gonzales
  • When General Domingo de Ugartechea, found out that the town Gonzales refused to surrender, he sent Francisco de Castañeda and 100 of his soldiers to receive it.
  • Come and take it
  • Castañeda and his troops made it to the Guadalupe river, but it was blocked by high waters and 18 Texans were on the other side just waiting.
  • We did it!
  • The Texans refused to give the cannon to Castañeda and his troops. The Texans had recently hid it under ground of a peach orchard. It was guarded by James c. Neil and Alarom Dickson.
  • On the morning of Oct. 2nd the Texans had risen a flag that said "come and take it." The Mexicans were outnumbered and didn't have enough weapons.
  • The battle of Gonzales marked the start of the Texas revolution, and a day in history that will always be remembered.
