Siddhartha Gautama was raised as a prince. He lived in a palace and wore luxurious clothing, but a fortune teller came to the palace and told his father that he would become either a king or a religious leader. His father, the king, wanted him to follow in his foot steps and become a king.
How dare you eat that meal!
Sid was raised in wealth and given only the best. As he grew up and took trips out of the palace his father sent guards ahead to make sure the prince never saw anyone suffering.
Ah, perfect peace.
Sid was 29 years old when he went out into the kingdom alone for the first time. This was the first time he saw anyone who wasn't content, it was the first time he saw people suffering.
Siddhartha had decided that Hinduism was not right for him so he tries to take The Path of Self Denial. But he becomes so unhealthy that he faints. When he wakes up he is offered a meal and enjoys it. When the ascetics he lived with found out they abandoned him.
Once he regained his strength he looks for a different path. Sid then decides that he will sit under a tree and stay their until he realizes the truth. Legends say he was visited by a god named Mara who tried to tempt him out of his search. But after 49 days of meditating the Buddha achieved enlightenment.
For the next 45 years of Buddhas life, he traveled across India to spread a message of truth and hope. His purpose was to awaken the world to see the nature of life. He gained many followers before ding at the age of 80.
