The Fifteenth Amendment was proposed on February 26, 1869, and ratified on February 3, 1870. Section 1 of the 15 Amendment was the right of citizens of the United States to vote will not be denied by the race or color of a person. This Amendment was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. This Amendment was approved by Abraham Lincoln.
