  • The cotton we grow here is used in the North for clothing. We use our river system to get it there.
  • Here in the south we have a rather warm climate with long growing seasons.
  • Many different crops are grown here in the South
  • Geographical Features
  • Political
  • All and any political figures were white wealthy land owning men
  • Slaves were not allowed to make any political decisions.
  • Slaves would often gather during the night time and would sing about slave freeing organizations
  • The slave owners and slaves mostly ate the similar foods. Similar breakfast and even dessert foods
  • One thing shared between the whites and the slaves was the illiteracy. Some whites and slaves could not read or write 
  • Culture
  • In the south wealth was unevenly distributed. There was a variety of different income levels
  • Most of the lower classes relied heavily on farming as a lifetime oppurtunity 
  • Here in the south, cotton was farmed and it was brought up to the north to make clothing
  • Economy 
  • No woman was allowed any self made decisions, or to work in any way shape or form.
  • The economy consisted of men  and the men made all the money for a family. Ethnicity only consisted of whites and slaves 
  • Society
  • Southern farmers needed lots of slaves to work on farms, so slave trade still continued,
  • Transportation and communication networks were sparse
  • There were few takes in the south which made the school number never increase
  • Social
