Convincing my mom to let me get raffle tickets on carnival night was one of my biggest challenges at age nine. I was convinced I had the best chances. My mother however, didn't share my opinion.
Yay! Okay, I will!
There, all set! ONE ticket in each of the four boxes. I have to head home now, okay? Have fun playing some games with Dad!
Outside, games and competition were in full swing. As children played, the adults engaged in their usual conversations.
Gotta make sure they don't get in any trouble!
Yeah, right! We'll take you down!
I'm so gonna win, losers!
Eventually, it was time for the raffle winners to be called. Three of the boxes I had dropped my tickets in had already been called. I didn't win. My friends and I held our breath and watched as our principal shuffled around the box of the last prize of the evening, the Ipad Mini 2.
Man, there's a lot of tickets in here!
DUN DUN DUNN...
And the winner is....PRANAVI! Congratulations!
Back home, Dad and I decided to mess with Mom. I walked in all sad, pretending I didn't win anything. Just as she reach out to comfort me, Dad revealed the Ipad he hid behind his back. To this day, she acts as if she was upset, but deep down, I know that's not the case.
