The Pilgrims and the Puritans wanted to move to the New World so they could have religious freedom
King James 1 could not really rule the people in the New World so they made the Mayflower Compact. The mayflower Compact was when representatives would get together to talk about new laws.
For economic Plymouth turned to the sea, they did very well in the fishing and whaling industry.
Plymouth is located in Massachusetts on Cape Cod. The soil is very rocky and definitely not good for farming.
Jamestown was planned, they had sent supplies and people. Whereas Plymouth wasn't planned. Jamestown was located on a swamp, Plymouth was located on a beach. Jamestown had only men so they could make a new colony. Plymouth had men, women, and children so they could have religious freedom. Jamestown did not have peace with the Indians while Plymouth did. They were both struggling with harsh winters and diseases causing many to die.
