EXPOSITION Definition: is the insertion of important background information within a story.

RISING ACTION Definition: includes all decisions, and background circumstances that together create twists leading to a climax.
CONFLICT Definition: conflict is the challenge main characters need to solve to achieve their goals.
In the autumn of the year, I had been passing alone, on horseback, as the shades of the evening drew on, within view of the melancholy House of Usher. Nevertheless, in this mansion of gloom, Its proprietor, Roderick Usher and I had been friends, but many years had elapsed since our last meeting. A letter, however, had lately reached me in a distant part of the country.
CLIMAX Definition: the part of the story where the tension or action reaches its highest part.
The narrator found out that both Rodrick Usher and Lady Madeline both suffer from mental illnesses. The narrator starts thinking he's going crazy too.
FALLING ACTION Definition: occurs right after the climax, when the main problem of the story resolves.
Lady Madeline dies and Usher and the narrator entomb her in the donjon of the house. When they look at her she is smiling.
RESOLUTION Definition: is the part of the plot in which the problem is resolved. This is after the falling action and is where the story ends.
One stormy night Usher can't sleep and neither can the narrator. The narrator decides to read him a story. They end up hearing nosies while the narrator pauses.
For a moment she remained trembling and reeling to and fro upon the threshold, then, with a low moaning cry, fell heavily inward upon the person of her brother, and in her violent and now final death-agonies, bore him to the floor a corpse, and a victim to the terrors he had anticipated.
The storm was still abroad in all its wrath as I found myself crossing the old causeway... suddenly there shot along the path a wild light and horrible sound. The deep and dank tank at my feet closed suddenly and silently over the fragments of the "HOUSE OF USHER"
