  • This treaty will end the war.
  • There's no way we'll make it back on time for the battle!
  • Gather all the men and weapons you can find!
  • On December 24, 1814 there was a treaty signed to end the war of 1812.
  • DIG!
  • However it did not reach New Orleans in time for the British Attack, on January 8 1815.
  • RUN!
  • FIRE!
  • Meanwhile Andrew Jackson had gotten word of a British attack on the seaport and had begun preparing. They used weapons and people from the town of New Orleans no matter what or who they were.
  • I call it Yankee Doodle.
  • Andrew Jackson's army came together and built a 1 mile long dugout. He used weapons and men from slaves to pirates. Andrew Jackson would not retreat because he wanted revenge.
  • The battle was fought, lasting only 30 minites, Amercia reached a staggering victory. Also, Andrew Jackson was nicknamed "Old Hickory" for his heroism. The British lost 2000 men while amercia lost only 70.
  • Hey Old Hickory! We are winning!
  • After the battle, a second treaty was signed ending the war. Meanwhile, Andrew Jackson was called a hero and was greeted by the sounds of Yankee Doodle playing in his honor.
