John Carlo graduates from high school and would like to go to college. Unfortunately, during his time in high school he had a job as a painter and that hindered his grades. This caused him to lose his chances of getting into a four year college.
After high school, he left the painter business and used what money was left for education. Luckily, he managed to get into the University of Cincinnati with a business degree in Marketing.
At the age of 35, John was married and had two children, one boy and one girl. He's been doing a good job as a marketing professional and became a National Sales Manager. However, his financial choices will end up bigger problems in the future.
John Carlo is now 45 years old with his children graduating from high school and applying for colleges. His job pays well, but it seems like he spends everything he has and ends up with little to show for it. His son wants his own car and he also wants a new one, along with paying for their education.
John's finally 55 and his kids are out of the house now with their successful careers, but it was very costly. He used the second mortgage on the house to pay for his children's college. To add on to that, he has little more for retirement, but luckily his company is doing well and every dollar is invested for retirement.
65 years old now, the last 10 years have been tough, but he made it through. He took very few vacations as he was trying to invest as much as possible to make up for all the years he didn't invest when he was young. If he retires now, he won't have enough money saved to maintain the house him and his wife live in. So he continues to work hard until he has made enough to live in the house they currently live in.
