Arachne and Athena By: Maggie Gwaltney
Arcanhe was showing pride and self'confidence by thinking she was the best weaver. Even better than the goddess Athena.
I am the best weaver ever!
This old women was trying to tell her not to beleive she was any better than the goddesses. Arachne didn't listen to the old women and believed she was better any way.
Never think you are better than any goddess!
I am a better weaver than the goddess Athena!
The old lady transformed into hr true self, which was Athena. Arachne challenged her to a contest and Athena was winning. She punished Arachne and told her not to judge or compare your work to others.
Archane was so mad that she lost the contest and she almost killed herself. Athena was faster than her and turned her into a spider so she could spin webs all day.
The lesson this story teaches kids is to never judge or compare your work to others. Arachne showed hubris by believing that she was a better weaver than Athena.
