Hobie decides that he needs to do the right thing and give Duke away. He is very scared for the things that could happen to Duke, but he needs to help the best he can. So, he calls Mr. Rasmussen to send Duke away.
Hobie does not want to give away Duke anymore. He has so many worries of what could happen to Duke. Mr. Rasmussen keeps talking about how many dogs have gotten hurt or worse and it is worrying Hobie. Although, he knows he has to.
I chose this scene because it shows that people have to make choices that are very important. It shows that sometimes the right choice is not the easiest one. It develops Hobie as a character by forcing him to make this kind of decision. It develops Hobie by making him grow up and give away a dog he loves to help the world that needs it.
