The Time Traveler explains to a group of friends that he believes in a fourth dimension, through which it is possible to time travel. A week later he begins to tell the story of his time travel.
The Sunset of Humanity
When he lands in the garden beside the White Sphinx, the TT soon meets the Eloi. They look different from the race in the time of the TT.
The Hunt for the Time Machine
The Eloi live in once-grand buildings, speak another language, and eat exotic fruits.
He finds the Eloi to be happy and healthy but considers their state a “sunset” of humanity because everything harmful seems to have been eliminated erasing the intellectual curiosity, passion, and energy.
The TT finds the time machine missing, and he deduces that it has been dragged inside the pedestal of a colossal statue.
The TT meets Weena when he saves her from drowning in the Thames river.
