JONAS RECEIVER OF MEMORY 1. Go immediately at the end of school hours each day to the Annex entrance behind the House of the Old and present yourself to the attendant. 2. Go immediately to your dwelling at the conclusion of Training Hours each day. 3. From this moment you are exempted from rules governing rudeness. You may ask any question of any citizen and you will receive answers. 4. Do not discuss your training with any other member of the community, including parents and elders. 5.From this moment you are prohibited from dream-telling. 6.Except for illness or injury unrelated to your training, do not apply for any medication. 7.You are not permitted to apply for release. 8. You may lie.
Jonas's assignment is to receive different memories from the giver. All these memories have different qualities Jonas has not learned about.
These are the rules that Jonas has to follow if he's going to be the receiver of memory. Jonas doesn't understand/like some of these rules.
Receiver of Memory's
The giver's house differs by having books, styled furniture, and a lock on his door.
The giver shows Jonas on the first day snow, a sled, a hill, and what runners are. This picture is of Jonas having fun on the sled for the first time.
The community is not aloud to make decisions because it could effect how there world/system is set up. The people in the city grew up in a certain way and were always told that the chief elder is always correct. It would cause chaos.
"Seeing beyond" in my opinion is seeing past the dimness and being able to see what others can not. When Jonas "see's beyond" he starts to see color and I feel like as the story goes on hes gonna start seeing more and more of what the other community just doesn't get or just can't see. Jonas sees his friend Fiona's hair turn red.
