  • Jack leaves the group and forms his own tribe. In this tribe he is the self-proclaimed leader. He does this because as the boys spent time on the island Jacks humanity is slowly depleting.

While in the middle of a primal dance the boys trample and kill Simon, hiding his body in the ocean.
  • Jack sets fire to the island trying to kill Ralph unsuccessfully and Ralph finds a man. The man saw the fire from his boat and showed up to rescue the boys. He assumed they were playing war and still had all of their humanity.
  • The man, a Naval Officer, finds the truth out and is shocked. He cant believe a group of children lost all rules of society in such little time. The boys, overwhelmed with the thought of freedom from their dark selves, begin to cry. While they cry the Naval Officer turns around so they can regain their composure. The children are saved.
