Storyboard Text

  • Angry at the British pressing his sailors to work for them, President James Madison imposed an embargo on Britain
  • We will not trade with Britain anymore, by the order of the President
  • This is going to be an economic disaster for our merchants
  • I guess your embargo plan on us didn't work out very well.
  • Exactly! You guys still treated us as if we're British subjects. That's why we started the war
  • Oh, remember Major-General Isaac Brook? He was such a brave hero. Such a shame he died
  • Wasn't it in the battle of Queenston Heights in October of 1812. It was the first major battle of the war
  • Battle of Queenston Heights
  • Isaac Brook advocated the importance of native allies, prepared Upper Canada for the invasion, and captured Detroit despite being outnumbered, just in four months before his death. That's pretty impressive
  • We won, even if Brook died. This shows that we're much more powerful than you
  • You outnumbered us 5:18. It wasn't fair
  • And Britain was so powerful when we burned down York in April, 1813
  • Why did you even helped Britain? It was a losing battle
  • It doesn't matter, we have to defend our homes no matter what
