There are also sounds waves. They are longitudinal. Which means that their vibrations are parallel to the direction of travel.
There are 2 types of waves. Electromagnetic and Mechanical. Electromagnetic waves dont need a medium to travel through. But mechanical waves need a medium. A medium anything a substance can travel through.
Examples of transverse waves are water and light waves.
Examples of longitudinal waves are sound waves.
There are other parts of a wave called wavelength, amplitude, crest, and trough.
