Storyboard Text

  • I'm going to be a voyageur!  I'll miss you!  Bye!
  • A young voyageur named Jean was leaving to be a voyageur.  His father hurt his hand, so Jean wanted to make money.  He is going to miss his family, but he knows he is making the right choice.
  • I hope we make it to land soon.
  • This is scary!
  • As Jean Walked out of St. Anne's Church, he was feeling sad about the people that died.  He was getting along with his brigade.  Jean's muscles hurt from paddling.  He also had blisters from paddling.  Jean is homesick for his family because he was tired and hurt.  He is about to paddle more on the river.
  • We made it!
  • As Jean´s canoe was running the rapids, water splashed into the canoe.  Everyone in the brigade was getting wet.  The waves just kept coming.  Jean was starting to feel scared, but he knew everything would be okay.
  • As Jean and the brigade were on Lake Superior, water started to go into the boat.  The sky turned from being a pretty blue to being a dark gray color.  The crew went right into the middle of Lake Superior and almost crashed.  Jean was scared and he hoped they would make it back to land soon.
  • Jean and his brigade were heading to Grand Portage.  The brigade was excited the moment they saw it.  Jean could not wait for the Rendezvous.  He was most excited for the big feast, but also to meet new people.  The brigade was cheering.  From the first moment they saw Grand Portage, the brigade was happy they made it.
  • Jean decided to go back to Lachine with his brigade.  He didn't know if he was going to sign on again next spring, but he knew he would miss the friends he made.  Jean had a great time being a voyageur, even though he wished they ate better food.  His favorite thing about the long journey was the Rendezvous.  Jean couldn't wait to see his family because he missed them a lot.
