Through the times from about September 5th through October 26th, 1774, representatives from each colony, aside from Georgia, got together at Carpenter's Hall in Pennsylvania to discuss what was happening with the British, such as things like the Intolerable Acts. A letter was then sent to King George III going over the things they have discussed about the way they have been treated unfairly. They demanded for the king to put the Intolerable Acts to an end. The king had ignored their demand, and they then set a plan to meet again in May of 1775.
The Battle of Lexington was a very small outbreak of an unplanned fight, cause by "the shot heard around the world," which was shot by someone unknown between the British and the Americans. The battle lasted minutes leaving 8 dead, and 10 injured. Each side fleeted after, with the British heading to the city of Concord. The Americans soon decided to head back there as well, but remained on the outside as they watched the British, soon planning to wait them out on the other side of the North Bridge to attack them as they would leave. Over time, the Americans gained more and more people on their side. As the British headed out across the bridge, they were met with the Americans in attack. The British defended themselves as much as they could to get a full escape as they marched their way back to Boston. To the Americans, they had just won the small attack fight, as the British were now leaving. This gave them the idea to torment the British as they made their way back to Boston. By the end of series of attacks, a total of 73 British soldiers were dead, along with the Americans losing 49.
Just as planned, on May 10th, 1775, the representatives met up again for the Second Continental Congress, led by John Hancock, at the State House in Philadelphia. This time, Georgia was included, allowing all 13 colonies to now be apart of it. Though the Second Continental Congress was held over a large period of time, ending around March 1781, meetings were held whenever available and crucially needed. In the period of time that they were not in congress to put together the meetings, the Battle of Lexington and Concord took place setting the start of the Revolutionary War. Because of all of the new conflict, there was business that needed to be done to form and create armies in order to over power the British in any future wars. and the current conflicts that were already in session.
