  • The encampment at valley forge took place from December 19, 1777, through June 1778 as a place for General George Washington's continental army.

  • George Washington quarters were built between December 1777 through June 1778 same time when the army was building their houses.

  • The houses that the men stayed in took a week to build with the help of the men making them. They had to be made 14 by 16 feet George Washington told them.

  • Before they got to valley forge they faced many battles and lost all of them. Some of the fights came close to victory but defeat was the ned result. So George Washington picks valley forge as their winter quarters for the men. The houses they slept in took only a week to build. After they went to valley forge they were disciplined and much better fighters than before they went to valley forge.
  • Many of the men did not have any clothes or shoes and there was a shortage of food and medicine. Many of the men were killed by disease and starvation and cold. About 2000 men died at valley forge.
  • He trained the army men how to march and use a bayonet. He also gave the men discipline and made the men very brave. His teachings helped the soldiers become an army capable of beating the British.
