  • America declared war on Britain because they were imprisoning U.S. sailors. We also don't get any respect from them.

  • The British navy was bombing Fort McHenry all night ,but we didn't surrender.

  • This is the battle of New Orleans. We were able to fight off the British and Andrew Jackson became a national hero.

  • After the war ended America was given a lot of respect. The citizens started to feel a sense of pride after the war.
  • America was also open to having new trading partners. We also had new leaders step up to lead the country.
  • Francis Scott Key back there made "The Star Spangled Banner". Which became our national anthem.
