  • In 1828 Congress passed the Protective Tariff of 1828 also known as The Tariff of Abominations putting a tax on European manufacturing goods protecting U.S. good North supported this but the South did not because it only benefited north
  • I am going to put a tax on Imported good and it is going to be called the Protective Tariff of 1828
  • The southerners hated the new tariff, making trades for European manufactured goods more expensive. The southerners even threatened to leave the Secede the Union.
