Storyboard Text

  • Introduction
  • Lately, America has seen attacks on Jews and Muslims. But it seems this hatreds of Jews (anitsemitism) has been going on a lot longer than we think. " As reported by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Jews were the target of 60 percent of religiously motivated single-bias hate crime incidents in the United States in 2017, while 17 percent of the incidents targeted Muslims and smaller percentages targeted various Christian denominations" (Antisemitism).
  • "Antisemitism refers to hatred, hostility, prejudice, or discrimination directed toward Jewish people as a religious, cultural, or ethnic group" (Antisemitism).
  • Narration
  • "Prejudice and discrimination toward Jews has existed for thousands of years, prompting some scholars to refer to antisemitism as "history's longest hatred." In ancient times, differences in language, laws, and customs contributed to anti-Jewish sentiments, as Jews were perceived as trying to remain separate from the surrounding society." (Antisemitism)
  • Confirmation - Novel
  • Antisemtism is the whole reason World War 2 started. Hitler blamed the Jews. He tortured and killed them. Which in turn is the whole reason Liesel got seperated from her family.
  • Shouldn't America make equal efforts to make Jews feel safe as they do Muslims right now?
  • Confirmation - Research
  • "In its 2017 audit of antisemitic incidents, the ADL reported dramatic rises in attacks on Jews, including 163 bomb threats in the early part of the year and nearly twice as many incidents of vandalism in 2017 as had occurred the previous year. The report found a 94 percent increase in incidents at K12 schools and an 89 percent increase in incidents on college and university campuses. In response to the spate of bomb threats, the US House of Representatives introduced the Combatting Anti-Semitism Act in March 2017, which was renamed the Protecting Religiously Affiliated Institutions Act and ultimately became law in September 2018, expanding federal protections for religious and religiously affiliated organizations by increasing the criminal penalties for crimes against them." antisemitism.
  • "On October 27, 2018, truck driver Robert Bowers committed the most fatal act of violence against Jewish people on US soil when he murdered eleven people and wounded six others with an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. " (Antisemtism).
  • Concession/Refutation
  • Antisemitism is the longest hatred and discriminotry view it needs to have as much effort put into it as we are putting in for the Muslims to feel safe
  • Antisemitism is a long standing problem that should've been fixed a long time ago. We need to change this. It only causes hurt.
  • Conclusion
  • We are all humans and there's no reason or excuse to treat another human being as less than yourself.
  • In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, violent anti-Jewish pogroms, or organized massacres, erupted across Europe in response to cases of blood libel—false accusations that Jews kidnapped and murdered Christian children to obtain blood for use in religious rituals. In many places, Jews were persecuted, ostracized, confined to ghettos, or forced to convert to Christianity.
  • There are a lot of bad things that happen and a lot of bad people who do these bad things. We need to change all of these hateful viewpoints.
  • Muslims still don't feel as safe as they could feel. We need to battle one issue at a time
  • The United States has made very visible efforts to make poeple of other religions or cultures feel safe. However, the antisemitic crimes have almost gone unrecognized and not a lot has been done to stand up for the Jews. We need to take a stronger stance for the Jews.
