Storyboard Text

  • Yuck! This place is disgusting. but its the only blacks only restaurant in town... Maybe I can try and go to a whites only restaurant
  • Im sorry! Im just really hungry. Could you be a little lenient and get me a lemonade?
  • No, now get out slug!
  • Get out! We dont serve your color here! Havent you heard of segregation?!
  • I really hope this whole reconstruction thing works out in the end.
  • Jim Crow Laws prohibited equality. An example being not allowed into a whites only restaurant. Jim Crow Laws helped create something called Black Codes as well. A example being if you had any amount of color in you; you were treated as a black person.
  • Segregation separated colored and non colored. It was very similar to the Jim Crow Laws. The 13th Amendment might have given slaves freedom, but didn't give them equality. Restoration was trying to give colored people quality to non colored though.
  • The 14th Amendment would give colored people rights. But it wasnt until the Civil RIghts Act they had gotten equal rights. Jim Crow Laws had existed until the 1950s but the Civil RIghts Act had stopped it. The 14th Amendment tried but failed.
