The first Crusade started in 1095 when Pope Urban declared that there were too many Muslims and the Catholics had to take back Jerusalem.
Once 5 armies and over 20,000 peasants had travelled 1000s of kilometres, they had taken over all the towns on their way.
In 1445 the Muslims took back Edessa, which caused the second Crusade. This was a huge failure for the Catholics.

The forth Crusade, in 1202, started as a fight for religion but soon turned into a fight for money and the Catholics fought the Catholics.
