Two men, Joseph Niépce and Louis Daguerre, were working on their own to create a camera when they eventually met up in 1897 to form a partnership.
After Niépce died Daguerre continued on trying to invent a photograph where he eventually came up with a the daguerreotype whre he took a silver plate put it in chemicals, exposed it to light, heated it over mercury vapor to get an image.
But there was a problem. Once the image was on the silver plate it would quickly disappear.
Daguerre thought long and hard about the problem trying to think of a solution.
