Rising Action #2
I drink to the dead around us.
Here this Medoc will help.
The narrator tells Fortunato about how he has his doubts about the amontillado, and tells Fortunato not to worry about it he would just get Luchesi instead. Fortunato insists on going although he is a little drunk.
Wait, where is the Amontillado!?
The narrator leads Fortunato into the vaults to show him the "amontillado." Fortunato was plagued with a cough that the narrator asked about to make Fortunato want to go even ore to prove it was nothing.
PLEASE!! This is all a joke right?
Fortunato feels kind of sick with a cough and is kind of loopy from his intake of alcohol, so he takes hold of the narrator as he is led through the vaults.
No one will find him
They get to a small recess and the narrator chained Fortunato down and secured him. Fortunato was too astounded to resist or argue.
The narrator started to build a wall with stones and mortar that were hidden under bones. Fortunato finally comes to the conclusion this is some joke and asks the narrator that is so.
The narrator puts the last stone in and walks away proud but a little sick with himself until he told himself how he was right and went away satisfied.
