The Giver by Lois Lowry Utopian and Dystopian fiction
text to text conversation
Jonas the main character of The Giver lives in an dystopian community with rules that can not be questioned. He has never liked this way of living and feels restricted to what he can do. The way to get around is on bike they don't know the bad history all they know is the good. There is no color to be seen here only black and white. The one person who sees color is Jonas
The scene from the giver when Jonas escapes town to feel un trapped to anything is his life is similar to The kissing booth. Elle finally did something she wanted to do instead of doing what her family wanted her to do. It is similar to Jonas not wanting to be to be trapped to doing what everyone told him to do.
When Jonas was selected for Receiver of memory he slowly started to see color and some hurt of the past. Jonas wants to leave bu when he would cross the border of town he'd loos all the memory he had at all. Jonas decides to leave and takes he adopted baby brother loosing all memory he had.
Jonas feels trapped to do everything the rules of the community are limiting his personality. He wants to feel like himself but can't when he knows he's meant to be more. There is this feeling that leads him to be able to leave town and be who he was meant to be.
