  • But that's my husband!
  • Maybe I can sue the state!?
  • I'm sorry sir but in order to get Mr. John's belongings and Death Certificate, you have to be legally married or blood related! And according to Ohio's state law, same sex are not allowed!
  • I object your honor!
  • Order in the Court!!
  • I feel like not allowing same sex marriages is unconstitutional!
  • After being denied in Ohio's State Court, Obergefell took it to the Supreme Court but 13 other same sex couples were involved along with other states not allowing same sex marriages as well.
  • Obergefell and 13 other couples VS. Hodges, Department of Health-Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Tennessee
  • The petitioners in these cases seek to find that liberty by marrying someone of the same sex and having their marriages deemed lawful on the same terms and conditions as marriages between persons of the opposite sex. The petitioners sought certiorari.
  • During the court case, the oral argument for the plaintiff (Obergefell) is that same sex marriages should get the same marriage rights as opposite sex marriages. The defendant(Hodges) argues that it is up to the states to allow the legal same sex marriages.
  • Then the 9 justices of the Supreme Court wrote their dissenting opinions.
  • I agree, too!
  • 4 out of the 9 agreed on states having that choose to consider same sex marriages because they believe the constitution doesn't indicate that the States should or shouldn't allowing same sex marriages.
  • Same sex marriages is a good and fair policy for all the states but I feel like the states have the right to decide whether or not they should allowed same sex marriages since it's not apart of the constitution
  • Yea, I agree! I think it's very unconstitutional if we don't give the states the power to establish their own laws if it's not apart of Constitution
  • I agree!
  • However 5 out of the 9 justices voted on same sex marriages/ the opinion of the court says that same sex marriages should be allowed in every states because it violates the 14th amendment.
  • I think violates our people because it violates our LGBTQ+ communities across the country and is violates our 14th amendment as well.
  • Yea, I agree because our 14th amendment involves our Equal rights Policy to all people of kind!
  • Yea, I agree!
