Storyboard Text

  • Money issues
  • No, I don't want to give you money!
  • Can we please borrow money? We don't have any!!
  • James Madison
  • That is a great idea!
  • What if we have one person run the whole government?A democratic one!
  • I like that!!
  • I think that would work good.
  • Roger Sherman
  • Yeah!! lets do that. I like that idea.
  • What if we have 2 legislative branches?
  • The government was not able to tax, so they couldn't make money. When they asked states for money most likely they said no. The government put MAJOR taxes of farmers in order to make money.
  • The two plans
  • I think we should have a really strong government.
  • I think we should have 3 branches of government.
  • He is called "the father of the constitution". He came up with the idea of a democratic government. Many people agreed with his version of the government.
  • Reasons for being written
  • I like knowing what all of our rights are.
  • He was a delegate from Connecticut. He came up with an agreement that he hoped would work between the Virginia and New Jersey plans. It was his idea that led to the great compromise.
  • The three-fifths compromise
  • Okay! So only these 3 slaves count toward the population.
  • The great compromise made an agreement between the 2 plans. This included having 2 branches of government. The people in the branches would be voted by the people.
  • I like it better when the government is limited.
  • The constitutions were wrote to help try and limit the powers of the government. It also reminded the people of all the rights they have. Later, it created loose alliances between the 13 states.
  • The 3/5 compromise meant that three fifths of the slaves in each state would get counted towards the population. This made the slave states have more representatives. The Northern staes didn't like this because they didn't have many slaves, and the states are mostly small.
