  • Alexander becomes ruler of Macedonia-In 336 B.C., Alexander's father Phillip was assasinated by his Pausanias. Just 20 years old, Alexander claimed the Macedonian throne and killed his rivals before they could challenge his sovereignty.

  • Wins battle of Granicus River against Darius III of Persia- The first victories engangment of Alexander the Great's invasion of the Persian empire established the Macedonian's on enemy soil.
