Storyboard Text

  • Ms. Centeno and her 12 year old daughter are found traveling.  They were the only two passengers on the third class train.
  • "On the narrow road parallel to the railway there were oxcarts loaded with green bunches of bananas"
  • The woman and little girl arrive at the town. The town was taking a siesta and Ms. Centeno was in need of a priest immediately .
  • "It was almost two. At that hour, weighted down by drowsiness, the town was taking a siesta."
  • Ms. Centeno goes to the church. She explains to the priest that her son, who was killed the previous week, was the victim of a false accusation of robbing an elderly widow.
  • "The priest scrutinized her. She stared at him with quiet self-control, and the Father blushed. He lowered his head and began to write."
  • "The priest went back to the cabinet. Two big rusty keys hung on the inside of the door."
  • The priest kept criticizing her son. The mother politely asks for the keys to the cemetery. So the priest obliged her request
  • They noticed that there were crowds outside. They were all in groups underneath the trees.
  • "The father noticed that there was someone looking inside, his nose pressed against the metal gating, even before he opened the door to the street."
  • Ms. Centeno still decides to leave the church even though there were crowds outside.
  • "Then she took the bouquet of flowers from the girl and began to move toward the door."
