In the section "Gifted" of Brown Girl Dreaming is when her sister is gifted and her sister has excelled, achieved, and has a out standing performance. Oldella already has all of the mail stacked official looking and she proudly hands it to their mother. Her sister is jelouse because she has a harder time in school. So she feels very dumb. When she is at school they say the words twist twirl, by the time she understands the words the class is already moved on.
