You will be going to find the Arkansas and Red River, and to New Mexico to spy on Spanish Settlements.
But you ve tobe careful in New Mexico. If the Spanish find you, they might arrest you.
Where too? And what should i worry about on the mission?
Zebulon Pike finds people who will join him for his expedition. He finds many men who were wiling to join him.
Who wants to join me on an expedition?
In November 1806, Zebulon Pike discovers a mountain. He never climbed it, but the mountain was soon named Pike's peak after it's founder.
No, it's not!
Look! Is this mountain on our map?
We must have found it then. It should be named Pike's Peak, after our expedition group.
Soon after finding Pike's Peak, Pike and his men lead the expedition into Spanish territory. There, the Spanish arrested them for going on "their territory"
You men are on Spanish Territory. You are arrested! We will send you to New Mexico for the punishment.
When the Spanish arrested the expedition group, they sent the group to the Santa Fe, New Mexico area. Being moved helped his expedition, as it gave him more opportunities to spy on the Spanish for his mission.
Well, now that we are in New Mexico, we can spy on the Spanish Settlements and find a way to send the information back to Jefferson.
