General Caeser did not like that they had Pompey executed, so he demanded repay of the debts. He could of annexed Egypt, but Cleopatra convinced him to restore her to the throne instead.
After he gave her the throne he stayed in Egypt for a long time when Rome needed him. Even though; he loved Egypt's geography and many sculptures, and he later brought many of Egypt's great things, like the calendar; to Rome.
Cleopatra was a fascinating woman and helped Egypt grow and prosper. She stabilized the economy and managed the vast bureaucracy. When the drought hit, she opened the graneries to the public.
