In 1540-1542, Coronado crossed a sea of grass on the panhandle while looking for 7 cities of gold.
There's no gold here!!!
In 1685-1687, La Salle got lost looking for the Mississippi River and his crew wanted to go back but he said no so his own crew murdered him. But on the other hand , he made the Spanish more serious about settling and not just exploring.
