Storyboard Text

  • Have you heard about one of these so called "Social Utopias"?
  • Oh yes they're quite splendid. However I never actually seen one.
  • Please explain to me what exactly is a Social Utopia?
  • Well they say that its a society where all social conflict and distress is overcome.
  • Really? How so?
  • In fact I heard these places evolved from the Greek philosopher Plato and Thomas.
  • Plato wrote "The Republic" in 360 B.C which was an idealization of a slave society with a rigid class system divided between philosophers, warriors and commoners.
  • The pictured his society to by just like his conception of a human, reason, spirit, and desire.
  • Wow that's astonishing how people of their time were capable of grasping an idea of what the world should look like.
  • Thomas More wrote Utopia in 1515, looking forward to a world of individual freedom and equality governed by Reason, at a time when such a vision was almost inconceivable.
  • I wish that's how the world was today. It what be wonderful if I could live in a place like that
  • Well that's not how the world works my friend its all just an allusion
