  • Cuba got America to join the cuban rebellion by burning America's sugar cane plantations and by exaggerating stories in yellow journalism.
  • U.S. demands to Spain
  • The U.S.S. maine exploded and killed 250 Americans. The Maine was blamed on Spain.

  • President William McKinley did not want to go to war,
  • Territory Gained by U.S.
  • McKinley sent a list of demands to Spain as a last peace attampt. They followed all but #4, so McKinley finally declared war.
