What does that mean?
Though you survive alone, bereft of all companions, lost for years, under strange sail shall you come home,
In this book of the epic, Odysseus and his men arrived on Polyphemus's island. Here they were trapped by Polyphemus and escape by blinding him with a sharpened spear. As they escaped him, Odysseus bragged to Polyphemus causing him to pray to his father Poseidon. This leads to Poseidon cursing Odysseus which then leads to it taking a longer time for Odysseus to return home.
Father and son
Okay, I understand
Now it is time for you to greet your son and take back your kingdom
After receiving the prophecy from Tiresias, Odysseus's crew headed toward Ithaca but they first had to pass the sirens, Scylla, Charybdis, and the cattle of Helios. Once the crew arrived at Scylla and Charybdis they immediately became frightened. Odysseus was able to convince his men to keep rowing past the two monsters while Scylla ate six of the men on crew.

In the underworld he saw his deceased crew member, his mother, and Tiresias. Tiresias gave Odysseus a prophecy regarding the rest of his journey and some advice.
After surviving the long journey home, Odysseus finally made it back to Ithaca. Once he got there he went to Eumaeus' hut where he met Telemachus and Athena. After introducing himself to Telemachus, they created a plan to kill the suitors and take back Ithaca
After killing the suitors, Odysseus was groomed by Eurynome. Penelope decided to test Odysseus to see if he was an impostor by telling him that their bed was moved. He refused to believe it was moved unless the olive tree it was built around was cut. When he said this, Penelope realized he wasn't an impostor and burst into tears hugging him. Odysseus reclaimed Ithaca and they all lived Happily Ever After.
