After reading this book, I see how important NASA is. For every dollar we put into NASA we get $7 dollars back into the economy.
It is Introduced To the House of Representatives
The government should double the budget of NASA.
The Bill is Sent to Committee
NASA has helped our economy, and it develops new technologies all the time
How about $10 billion dollars
Where will we get the money from?
I send my idea for doubling NASA's budget to Bonnie Watson Coleman.
It Goes to Congress
It has finally, passed through congress! We can only hope that the President, feels that this is a good way to spend the budget.
Bonnie Watson Coleman introduces the bill to the House of representatives, where they debate about possible amendments. She then puts it into a hopper, where it is given a number.
It goes to the President
I don't know about this bill...
The bill goes to the Space Science Budget Committee. It is debated about, and the committee agree that instead of doubling the budget of NASA, they will give it 10 billion dollars more every year.
I think that we should increase it's budget, but not by a factor of two
I don't think that it should be doubled.
It goes to the House of Representatives, where they debate about the bill. The majority believe that a $10 billion dollar increase is a fair enough increase, as it is 0.25% of the federal budget. 72% goes in favor of it in the House of Representatives. It then goes to the Senate, where it is debated on once again, and a 52% majority, votes in favor of it.
Yes, but the president may feel that there are better ways to spend this money.
The bill then goes to the president. The president cannot decide whether it is a good way to spend the money, and he chooses to do no action. After ten days, congress is fortunately in session, and the bill becomes law. NASA now gets $30 billion dollars every year.
