Mercy and Brennan discuss how their lives would be diiferent if they were to live closer to each other, considering the fact that they had only ever communicated via call and text.
Brennan moved to the town he lived in during his earliest years, which happens to be where Mercy lives. They grow closer over the next few months as they spend the entire summer together
Mercy's past mental issues come to play when she develops anirrational fear of losing her bestfriend. This drives her to using the casette tapes she made of herself documenting the time she had spent with Brennan, as well as any information she had gathered over the course of their year long friendship
Mercy finishes her plan to keep Brennan to herself as she closes out the last of 96 tapes. It is set to start on the day of her quinceanera, which she had planned for 9 months prior. Brennan is suppose to be her escort
As the last boxes of decorations were being brought into the venue, Mercy realized that the box she kept the cassettes in was there. Several had been taken out, and she could faintly hear a recording of her voice. This was the beginning of the end for her.
Brennan had heard what she was planning. He questioned if he even knew his friend. Needing answers, he follows Mercy outside with tear stained cheeks and bloodshot eyes. Her explanations sound like gibberish. Then, she leaves and the story ends however you want it to end.
