  • The Host starts telling jokes and requests that Chaucer tells a story to lift their spirits.

  • Sir Thopas takes a rest after a long ride and dreams of finding the Elf Queen and sets out to find his dream come true.
  • Resolution
  • No more of this...I'm exhausted by your illiterate rhymes!!!
  • Sir Thopas encounters a three-headed giant who forbids him to enter the woods because the Elf Queen's kingdom lies ahead. The giant threatens death so Sir Thopas must prepare for his battle against the beast...
  • Sir Thopas returns to his fathers castle to consume an elegant feast then prepares himself with the finest armor and excellent weapons.
  • The Host interrupts Chaucer and tells him to stop this little rhyme immediately and tell something else in prose.
