  • The man, Patrick Crusius, who killed 22 people in a mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, is facing the death penalty. Crusius was charged with 90 counts of hate crime and firearms laws because the shooting was aimed at Mexicans. The federal charge also follows his indictment on capital murder charge.
  • On Thursday night, Santa Fe played against Manzano High. Santa Fe was short a few players because a few were sick and future Lobo, J.B. White was sitting out due to one-games suspension. It was a close games but Santa Fe lead the games 38 to 36 for 3 quarters before scoring 18 points in the final minutes of the game.
  • UNM announced that they will launch a new scholarship for first-time qualifying students for any tuition. The scholarship only offers free college to freshmen who's families are making less than $50,000. Governor Grisham proposed this idea to attract students and to keep up with community colleges. This program will help students have a choice in college based on their aspirations and not just the cost.
