"What of those years of rough adventure, weathered under Zeus?" (Homer 9, 28)
"Odysseus is welcomed by King Alcinous," and tells him of his travels for the past years.(Homer 9, 1)
We landed on an island to rest as the "ships' companies mustered alongside for the mid-day meal", so I sent out 2 warriors and a runner to investigate the island (Homer 9, 37-38).
"All hands aboard; come, clear the beach and no one taste the Lotus, or you lose your hope of home"(Homer 9, 50-52).
There they met the Lotus Eaters who told them of their strange plant.
They offered them the addictive plant and my men ate of it.
I found them there, in their surreal drug-induced hallucination of a world. They fought with me and did not wish to ever leave.
I brought them back to the ship and tied them to the rowing benches, and then we set sail once more.
