  • In 1845, Asa Whitney presented a resolution in congress proposing the federal funding of a rai-lroad that would stretch to the Pacific
  • I will put this act into law
  • Over the next several years congress failed to make the railroad because they had to much growing sectionalism in congress

  • In 1860 a engineer named Theodore Judah identified the Donner Pass in Northern California a good location to start the railroad. He was forming a group to make the Central Pacific Railroad Company

  • By 1862 Judah convinced congressional leaders and President Abraham Lincoln to sign the Paci-fic Railroad Act into law
  • I think you should put this act in law
  • Two competing companies were going to meet in the middle of the path to build the railroad
  • The two companies kept at the railroad until th-ey met together and joined the railway on May 10, 1869.
