  • Andrew Johnson’s Term
  • I don’t believe in racial equality,+allow the southern states to discriminate,making republicans angry. I veto a lot of bills, angering both parties.
  • I’m Andrew Johnson, the president that got my term due to the assassination of Lincoln.
  • Politicians hate me. They say I’m narcissistic and stubborn. They even tried to successfully impeach me.
  • The stand of Stanton
  • I’m Edwin Stanton, the Secretary of War. I oppose Johnson’s opinions, and Johnson tried to remove me.
  • He unsuccessfully did so, and I alerted Congress. Congress told me to “stick” it, and I still held office.
  • House of Rep. had passed the “Tenure if Office Act”, and decided to impeach Johnson for violating it.
  • Roles of the Branches
  • I’m Chief of Justice Salmon Chase. I acted as Chief Justice for the Johnson’s Impeachment in Senate.
  • As I judged, the judicial branch served as the jury. The legislative branch worked on creating the case and bringing evidence.
  • The Senate’s Hesitance
  • Johnson was hated by both parties, but some Senators were afraid
  • I’m Edmund G. Ross. I’m the senator of Kansas. I was expected to state that Johnson was guilty, but I did the opposite.
  • I wasn’t found guilty on trial. I was able to serve the rest of my term, although I was unliked by the public.
  • I’m Chief of Justice Salmon Chase. I was the judge for Johnson’s Impeachment.
  • It took 2/3 of senate to convict Johnson. If Johnson was put out of term, Congress would have to put up with Ben Wade
  • I’m Edmund G. Ross. I’m the senator of Kansas, and was expected to state that Johnson was guilty.
