Carbon in the Earth
The carbon cycle is also compacted when fossil fuels are burned. Because they are made from the remains of living organisms, when fossil fuels are burned, lots of carbon is released into the atmosphere.
Through the carbon cycle, carbon has to be released back into the atmosphere in some way, so decomposers like fungi and earthworms break down dead organisms and release carbon back to the air.
