  • U.S. Oil / Steel Embargo on Japan
  • We will hold a trade embargo on Japan for what they are doing.
  • Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and the Surprise Attack
  • Japan started invading a lot of countries so they can gain power. Japan invaded the countries of Vietnam, Laos, and Kampuchea. They also threatened the Philippines, Thailand, and other pacific nations.

  • When Japan started to be aggressive and attack other countries, America froze trade with them. America also froze Japanese funds in the U.S. banks. 
  • FDR / "Date which will live in infamy"
  • "Date which will live in Infamy."
  • One the Night of December 7, 1941 Japan forces surprise America with an attack. They attacked Pearl Harbor where they attacked all of the ships in the Harbor. 
  • America's point of view

  • During the attack, 2,400 soldiers, people, and sailors were killed by the attack. Almost all of the ships on the Island were destroyed including all planes.
  • All one the Island
  • December 8, 1941 is when FDR told the world that December 7 is a date which we will not forget and will remember for many years. FDR was also the only president to serve more than two 4-year terms.
  • After Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, America soon entered World War 2 with the Allies. When Japan fought us they thought the attack would wound us so much we would not enter the war. We did the opposite.
